Favorite Friday Night Lights Character | Matt Saracen

What’s not to love about Matt? He’s sweet, gentle, and kind. He has the weight of his entire family on his shoulders, as well as the weight of the team, but you hardly ever see him complain. His relationship with his grandmother breaks my heart, mostly because my grandmother also had dementia and I watched her mind slowly deteriorate. But the thing that stands out the most to me about Matt Saracen is his growth throughout the seasons. Remember how shy and afraid he was in the beginning? How he stuttered and could hardly speak or stand up for himself? The writers did an incredible job of creating this palpable maturity for him over the course of the show. Number Seven is my Number One FNL character. Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.
